For therapy to be effective, it is important to have an authentic connection with your therapist. I have included my background and experience that could be helpful to see if there is an initial connection.
I have a passion for working with and helping others. My home base has been Washington D.C. since 2006. I feel a strong connection to D.C. and the unique culture that exists here.
Prior to my current practice, I have had an amazing (and challenging) opportunity to live and work overseas for 7 years, which allowed me to more deeply understand and more effectively help people with the challenges of life transitions.
The challenges that occur with changes in our lives can have both positive, growthful impact and negative effects, leading me to develop my interest, experience, and therapy skills related to change, cultural
adjustment, and resilience.
My approach is collaborative, we will work together as a team. We will work in your therapy from a “strengths basis”--helping you use your individual strengths to move yourself towards positive change in your life.
I have woven together different experiences on my path as a psychotherapist. For the past 17 years, I have worked with people struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, dissatisfaction, and life changes.
Before my work overseas, I worked with children and families with a strong focus on crisis-intervention, resiliency, coping with change, and individual and group psychotherapy.
I’ve also had to the honor to work with servicemen and servicewomen--and their families--at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Part of my work there was with injured soldiers who had sustained Traumatic Brain Injuries and struggled with Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder.
